PATRICK E. MERLEVEDE, M.SC. is an organisational consultant and trainer, specialising in Emotional Intelligence and knowledge management.
In 1990 he graduated as a Master in Commercial Engineering at Leuven University (Belgium), majoring in Computer Science (a five-year program combining Engineering and Economics) and, in 1992, obtained his Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science. During his multi-disciplinary training, he learned about developments in Linguistics, Psychology, Medicine, and Engineering. This led him to become actively involved in the field of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), obtaining certificates as an NLP trainer and NLP modeller with Robert Dilts from the NLP University at in Santa Cruz California.
Earlier in his career, Patrick ’s main business achievements were in the field of Knowledge Management. He worked as a consultant on projects for the Social Security sector, insurance companies, banks and a number of industrial companies and founded his own consultancy, Acknowledge, in 1997. Acknowledge specializes in applying neurolinguistic principles to human resources and knowledge management and has developed a series of course materials aimed at helping participants to develop their emotional intelligence, some of which is now integrated in the present book. With the accelerated pace of change in our wired world in mind, Acknowledge ’s consulting and training experience led to the development of jobEQ.com, a company aimed at improving HR domains such as recruitment, coaching and training in the internet age.
Patrick now focusses in bringing emotional intelligence to the workplace, more specifically in areas as leadership, mentoring & coaching and recruiting. To this effect, he has been developing several online questionnaires for use in recruiting, coaching and team-building, including one called the iWAM (inventory for Work Attitude and Motivation) toolset, which expands and evolves further the well-known LAB profile.
